| 描述 | Interleukin-6 (IL-6)—also known as B-cell stimulatory factor 2 (BSF-2), CTL differentiation factor (CDF), hybridoma growth factor, and Interferon beta-2 (IFN-β2)—is a cytokine with two disulfide bonds that is secreted mainly by T cells and macrophages. It is involved in numerous biological processes including inflammation, aging, cell growth, apoptosis, and bone remodeling. It is released from muscle cells during exercise in response to muscle contraction. IL-6 induces an acute phase response and plays an essential role in differentiating B cells into immunoglobulin-secreting cells. The receptor for IL-6 consists of a ligand-binding subunit (IL-6R) and a signal-transducing subunit (gp130) that is also a component of other protein receptors. IL-6 binding to IL-6R triggers the binding of the IL-6-receptor complex to gp130 and the homodimerization of gp130. IL-6 is involved in osteoporosis, pulmonary fibrosis, liver cirrhosis, ischemia, and berylliosis, among other disorders. The NHP IL-6 Kit provides the assay-specific components for the quantitative determination of endogenous IL-6 in non-human primate urine, serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants. |
