- Store at -20 °C for one year. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles. The lyophilized antibody is stable at room temperature for at least one month and for greater than a year when kept at -20°C. When reconstituted in sterile pH 7.4 0.01M PBS or diluent of antibody the antibody is stable for at least two weeks at 2-4 °C.

- background:
DEGS1 is a member of the membrane fatty acid desaturase family which is responsible for inserting double bonds into specific positions in fatty acids. It contains three His containing consensus motifs that are characteristic of a group of membrane fatty acid desaturases. It has sphingolipid-delta-4-desaturase activity and converts D-erythro-sphinganine to D-erythro-sphingosine (E-sphing-4-enine).
Function:
Has sphingolipid-delta-4-desaturase activity. Converts D-erythro-sphinganine to D-erythro-sphingosine (E-sphing-4-enine).
Subcellular Location:
Mitochondrion. Endoplasmic reticulum membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein.
Tissue Specificity:
Ubiquitous.
Post-translational modifications:
Myristoylation can target the enzyme to the mitochondria leading to an increase in ceramide levels.
Similarity:
Belongs to the fatty acid desaturase family. DEGS subfamily.
