背景 | CD82, also known as KAI1, C33 and TSPAN27, is a widely expressed palmitoylated molecule in the tetraspanin superfamily. CD82 is synthesized as a 28 kDa core protein with mature molecular weights ranging up to 70 kDa due to variable glycosylation. CD82 functions as a suppressor of metastasis and is down‑regulated in many malignant tumors. It associates with IGSF8, DARC, the ganglioside GM2, and the HTLV-1 Gag protein. CD82 inhibits cell migration and metastasis by preventing integrin maturation and blocking integrin interactions with Met. Human CD82 shares 76% aa sequence identity with mouse and rat CD82. |
