描述 | Tumor Necrosis Factor-α (TNF-α) is a 17 kDa polypeptide produced primarily by activated monocytes and macrophages. This polypeptide mediates many immune and inflammatory responses, including activation and differentiation of monocytes and macrophages, expression of MHC class I and II, and expression of adhesion molecules on endothelial cells.1,2,3 TNF-α is considered to be the primary mediator in many inflammatory conditions including toxic shock and sepsis.4,5 Cayman’s TNF-α assay is an immunometric (i.e., sandwich) ELISA that permits TNF-α measurements within the range of 3.9-250 pg/ml, typically with a limit of detection of 3.9 pg/ml. Inter- and intra-assay CVs of less than 5% can be achieved at most concentrations. This assay allows sensitive, specific analysis of TNF-α in serum or plasma. |
