| 描述 | Vitamin D aids in the absorption of calcium and has central roles in bone formation and maintenance, hypertension, cancer and immunity.1,2 Vitamin D3 is an intermediate form of vitamin D which is obtained from dietary sources, such as fish, or through the conversion of 7-dehydrocholesterol by ultraviolet light.3 Vitamin D3 is subsequently metabolized to 25-hydroxyvitamin D3 and the active form 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D3 by cytochrome P450 isoforms in the liver.1,4 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D3 binds and activates the vitamin D receptor, which dimerizes with retinoid X receptor isoforms to alter gene expression.5 |
