| 描述 | The cytoskeleton is an array of highly ordered filaments that maintains the shape, structure, and functionality of cells. There are three major types of filaments: actin filaments, microtubules, and intermediate filaments. The distinctions among them are based on protein composition and arrangements. Glialfibrillaryacidicprotein (GFAP) is a 50 kDa component of the intermediate filaments and was originally identified in astrocytes. The overall structure of GFAP, which confirms its similarities to other intermediate filament proteins, indicates a central rod of about 130 amino acids flanked by coiled regions. GFAP has been extensively used as an immunohistochemical marker for tumors derived from astroglia. |
